Kigali Set to Host 2025 UCI Road World Championships

In just one month, Rwanda will make history as the first African nation to host the prestigious UCI Road World Championships. From September 21 to 28, 2025, Kigali will welcome the world’s best cyclists, marking a major milestone for both Rwanda and the African continent.

The championships, organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), will gather elite riders from across the globe to compete for the coveted rainbow jersey. The event will feature thrilling road races and time trials, showcasing talent, endurance, and the vibrant culture of Rwanda.

For Rwanda, this championship is more than a sporting event—it is an opportunity to highlight the country’s growing role in global sports, its dynamic infrastructure, and its commitment to fostering youth participation in cycling. Kigali’s hilly terrain and enthusiastic fan base promise to deliver unforgettable moments for athletes and spectators alike.

The Rwanda High Commission in Canada invites the Rwandan community and friends of Rwanda to join in celebrating this landmark occasion. As we cheer for the riders on Rwandan soil, we also honor the spirit of resilience, excellence, and unity that cycling embodies.

Stay tuned for updates and highlights as Rwanda prepares to welcome the world.
