Short background story

The relationship between Rwanda and Canada is established since 1963.

Rwanda and Canada have a two-way merchandise trade. The top export merchandise from Rwanda to Canada are vegetables, also Canada has companies in Rwanda concentrated in mining and education sectors.

Rwanda and Canada collaborate on trade and investment, the environmental protection, peacekeeping, judicial matters. Rwanda and Canada also cooperate in multilateral organizations such as the Commonwealth and La Francophonie.

Vision, Mission, and Mandate

Vision

Promote prosperity, unity of the Rwandan people, and mutually beneficial diplomatic relationships between Rwanda and the countries under the mission’s jurisdiction.

Mission

The mission will strengthen cooperation, friendship, and trade between Rwanda and Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Haiti. It will also pursue Rwanda’s interests in civil aviation within the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Overall, it will be a model diplomatic platform for the promotion of Rwanda’s Government policies and objectives, and to serve the needs of Rwandan citizens living within the mission’s jurisdiction.

Mandate

- Strengthening existing good relations at all government and non-government levels between Rwanda and countries under the mission’s jurisdiction. - Fostering mutual understanding between the Rwandan People and those of countries under the mission’s jurisdiction through educational, cultural, and public affairs activities. - Promoting Rwanda as a reliable investment destination. - Increasing commerce between Rwanda and countries under the mission’s jurisdiction by identifying and promoting trade opportunities. - Assisting Rwandan citizens by providing prompt, efficient consular services, information, and other support.
