The Emergency Travel document is only valid to spend 30 days in Rwanda. It is for one-way travel, with your final destination being Rwanda.Only used for one trip not a round-trip . You cannot travel back using this document, it is only for entry to Rwanda. If your passport has expired, you are strongly encouraged to renew it while you are in Rwanda.

Emergency travel document: Requirements to be sent to Rwanda High Commission via E-mail or In-person

• Write a request via email, addressed to the High Commissioner
• Provide 2 colored pictures if in person or 1 digital picture if requesting via email
• Provide a copy of a  official identification  documents fom Rwanda and Canada (such as passport or Rwandan ID) and from Canada( copy of : Canadian passport ,permanent resident card, work/study permit) only federal ID is accepted, driver's license is NOT accepted.
• Tariff: free of charge
